Aim: To test if a sample of food contains protein.
Equipment: Test tube, Sodium Hydroxide,copper sulfate and food sample.
Method:1:Place about 2 ml of the sample into the test tube and add 5 drops of sodium hydroxide.2:Add 5 drops of copper sulfate.3:Shake the test tube gently.
Results:
When we shook the test tube with the milk in it, It turned green, but it was supposed to be purpley green to show that it had protein. Then we heated it over the Bunsen burner it turned purple. So the experiment was somewhat of a success.
